Good morning, Columbia. An escaped zebra in Armenia last Friday turned out to be. . . a donkey that a very patient someone (or someones) painted. But I really want to know is did they paint it white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
In today’s Columbia Scoop:
New ice cream shop and pizza place
Lax/track & field championships
Craft fair & maker’s market
Let’s get to it.

MERRIWEATHER
All Things Go releases 2026 lineup

If you grew up screaming "Misery Business" into your hairbrush, this one's for you.
All Things Go just dropped its 2026 lineup. And while 2025 is a hard act to follow (I’m a such a sucker for Noah Kahan), there are some great names on this poster.
The festival's been around since 2014 when it started as the All Things Go Fall Classic at DC’s Union Market. After covid, it moved to Merriweather (even though they still call it All Things Go DC). These days there are also festivals in Toronto and NYC.
Friday belongs to Mitski and Ethel Cain — both festival veterans. Mitski shared the top of the poster with Lore and Bleachers in 2022; Ethel Cain was featured in Columbia & NYC for the 2024 festivals.
Saturday is a heavyweight bout: the Hayley Williams Show, Muna, and Zara Larsson all on the same day. Combined monthly Spotify listeners? 74,933,599 (mostly from Zara).
Sunday closes with Brandi Carlile and Lola Young, who you'll recognize from "Messy" being on every coffee shop playlist last year. It literally has over 150 million views on YouTube alone.
Don’t sleep on the undercard either. Suki Waterhouse, Father John Misty (criminally underrated), Tinashe, Flipturn, Tiny Habits. These are great names.
One-day tickets start at $149 for GA and go all the way up to $799 for the VIP Super Suite. Three-day tickets start at $349 and the VIP Super Suite will run you almost $2k. Get tickets.

In other news. . .
🍕🍦Pizza & beer ice cream: Maple Lawn's getting two new tenants, and they're a package deal. Howard County couple Aisha and Mohammed Tariq are opening Maple Lawn Pizza and Sub on May 29 (halal, family-friendly, 30 seats), with Bruster's Ice Cream right next door in mid-July. The Tariqs already run a Bruster's in Vienna, Virginia.
🙏Faithful folks wanted: Howard County is recruiting for its brand-new Interfaith Advisory Commission. County Executive Calvin Ball is looking for 16 to 20 members — faith leaders, public members, and at least one student under 19. Quarterly meetings start this fall. Apply here.
🚧 Construction in progress: Add Mission Road to the construction conga line. Howard County is installing 3,900 feet of water main along Mission Road in Jessup, Samuel Morse Drive, and the Columbia Gateway Corporate Center starting May 18. Expected wrap: late February 2027. Pack your patience.
🎽🥍 Big week for high school sports.
Track & field: Oakland Mills girls (132 pts) and Reservoir boys (178 pts) both took county titles. The Scorpions' girls clinched it in the final 4×400 relay. The Gators' boys broke the county 4×200 record on the way to an 81-point blowout over second place.
Lacrosse: Glenelg’s boys held off Marriotts Ridge 13–12 for the county crown — three goals in 60 seconds late in the fourth sealed it. But the Mustangs got their revenge thanks to the girls: They ended Glenelg's 55-game county winning streak with a 12–11 overtime stunner. Sophomore Hayden Baumgartner buried the game-winner.
