Tensions boiled over in a Howard County courtroom earlier this spring when the parents of two slain teens lunged at the man accused of killing their sons. Marshay Eaddy and Michael Robertson, whose sons Blake McCray, 15, and Michael Robertson III, 16, were fatally shot at The Mall in Columbia, couldn’t contain their anguish during Emmetson Zeah’s arraignment. Eaddy struck Zeah first; Robertson followed. Both parents were charged with assault and disorderly conduct. The outburst highlighted deep frustrations with the justice system—especially after revelations that Zeah had violated home detention five times before the killings. Now, with new security measures in place and a July 14 court date looming, many are left questioning how a system meant to protect allowed tragedy to strike—twice.
