Long Reach senior Aidan West just made Howard County baseball history. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected West with the 135th pick in the MLB Draft—making him Long Reach’s first-ever player drafted and the county’s first since 2018. A four-time first-team All-County selection, West rewrote the school record books with a .499 career batting average, 81 stolen bases, and 15 home runs.
Committed to play at NC State, West now faces a big decision: head to college or sign with the Dodgers and chase his pro baseball dream. Either way, coaches say his unshakable mindset and work ethic set him apart. “When Aidan sets a goal,” said Long Reach coach Anthony Lyon, “he’s going to get it.”
